Tokens, notgeld, or camp money?
Hallo!
I'm new, from Italy, sorry but I don't speak german, I hope english is also good for you
I have a question about these "objects"
http://www.lamoneta.it/index.php?act=At ... t&id=39295
In the italian forum www.lamoneta.it we presume that they are concentration camps or prisoners of war money in WWII, but I have not found them in Lance Campbell's "Prisoners of war and concentration camp money".
The material is thick paper, the other side is blank.
What's, in your opinion? tokens? notgeld? camp money? or what???
ciao.

Hello!
This is camp money from World War I. issued in Magdeburg. These are so called "Scheckmarken". They were given to Prisoners of War to buy things in the camp-canteen. In the contrary to money, which can circulate, these Scheckmarken could only be used once. Therefor they are more similar to ration-cards than to money. Nevertheless they are indexed in the money-catalogues. The worth is about € 20,- each.
You can find them for example in in the German catalogue "Reinhard Tieste, Katalog des Papiergeldes der Gefangenenlager im 1. Weltkrieg".
I hope I could help you
greetings jofri
