Burggrafschaft Coevorden (Niederlande) Grand Denier o.J. (2. Emission, um 1340) Münzherr: Reinoud III. von Coevorden (1336-1369) Literatur: Grolle 3.2.1.
This denar is of Strassburg. Bischof Wicelin oder Werner I., Graf von Habsburg, (1001-1029). Dannenberg 945 (plate 84) Please turn the reverse to see Alpha and Omega and 2 stars beside the blessing hand.
For an article I wrote with Dr. Ilisch we did a study on Arnulf's and Arnold's.
Please have a look here: http://www.bonatiele.nl/FILPUB/publicatie10.html Also, in the article we mention an article of W. Hahn in Money Trend regarding the mints of Arnulf von Kärnten.
I think it's Grafschaft Holland, Floris IV.
Please have a look at www.bonatiele.nl, Determination Rubrik, Mittelalter, 13. Jahrhundert and scroll to Grolle 9.1.
Thanks for your reply. I have checked all literature I have for Köln and it's mints. Not in Hävernick. Also Dr. Peter Ilisch has checked but cannot confirm the mint of origin.
The coin is found in The Netherlands close to the German border.
Does anyone know where this coin is minted?
The reverse is clearly of Köln origin, but the obverse puzzles me.
The bishop holds a Krummstab and Schlüssel?
Please answer in German if you like.
