Beitragvon aidab » Do 03.11.05 22:28

Hi,

By the cross design I can deduce this coin is fromHungary. Can anyone confirm and give me more information about it ?
Thanks in advance.

hallo aidab

this ist the so called "Saracenen-Denar" - RV = Head of a Maures man
in the time of
Ludwig (Louis ) I. v. Anjou 1342-1382
Huszar 547, Réthy-Probszt 89 A, o,46 gr

( turn the coin till you can see the head of the saracene on Rv )

best regards, heripo

hallo @ a i d a b ,

I remember - a coin from ARAGOn - denier - Jaime I. 1213-1276 -
has nearly the same cross like this hungarian - isn't it ?
best regards, heripo

Hi heripo,

It't true. Some minor coins from Aragon Kingdom of Jaime I (1213-1276) or
Jaime II (1291-1327) or Pedro IV (1335-1387) or Alfonso V (1416-1458) presents this double cross, but the portrait side usually shows the halft side up of the body, not only the head as it shows the supposed hungarian coin.

Regards, aidab.
