Ludwig Gies: Lowen, 1912

Four examples exist with one located in the Castle Morsbroich in Leverkusen, Germany; one in the State Museum in Munich; and two in private collections...one of which is this one.

Obverse: Lion

Reverse: The Munich Child with date below.

It is amazing the detail of this piece considering that it is cast and the size of a dime.

It is just 20 minutes by car for a visit - never knew it

I am envious...apparently there is a nice sized Gies collection there. If you ever visit there please let me know what they have in their holdings. I'd sure like to visit again, it has been three years since my last visit.
