Eine Silbermedaille für die Krönung der König Edward VII von der United Kingdom von Großbritannien und Irland, der Kaiser von Indien, mit der Königin Consort auf seine Rückseite, der ehemaligen Prinzessin Alexandra von Dänemark.

Das Datum ist 9 August 1902. (Es würden 26 Juni 1902 gelesen haben aber für die King's-Last-Minute-Angriff der Appendizitis.)

Das Edwardian Zeitalter... Frühherbst in Europa, nach der langen Sommer im Viktorianischen Zeitalter.

A silver medal for the Coronation of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Emperor of India, with the Queen Consort on its reverse, the former Princess Alexandra of Denmark.

The date is 9 August 1902. (It would have read 26 June 1902 but for the King’s last-minute attack of appendicitis.

The Edwardian Age...early autumn in Europe, after the long summer of the Victorian Age.

Diese abgenutzten Silbermedaille von Victoria's Diamond Jubilee sucht wie es die Pocket-Stück der jemand sein könnte, zurück auf eine Zeit vor Edward VII, der die Tage seiner Mutter.

Very unlikely! The wear of the surface appears too smooth to have been caused by a sandy beach. I favour the idea that somebody really carried the piece in his pocket for a long time. And maybe the medal was even handed down through the generations as some kind of family treasure or charm.

Sehr wenig wahrscheinlich! Die Abnutzung wirkt zu glatt, als daß sie an einem Sandstrand entstanden sein könnte. Ich bevorzuge die Vorstellung, daß tatsächlich jemand das Stück lange Zeit in der Hosentasche mit sich herumgetragen hat. Und vielleicht wurde es sogar über Generationen weitervererbt als eine Art Familienschatz oder Glücksbringer.

Na gut, zum Sandstrand hast dus näher

Was die Wahrheit–und es ist immer lustig zu erraten–die Geschichte der dieses bestimmten Silber Stück enthalten mindestens eine Reise über den Atlantik. Ich fand es in den USA.
