Pocket change and airmail in the Pacific

For 2 days I was very, very tempted to mount to the attic for my long forgotten U.S. stamp collection along with its catalogs. But as I know myself I'd risk a relapse (as has happened before). I hope to resist the urge furtheron
But I think the transpacific stamp would have served there exclusively anyway - so it could probably not be found in Europe then and for many years thereafter. Thus it'd be absent in my collection.
It is interesting to read that the rates differed that much and how reatively low they are today.
Again a great contribution of yours - thank you very much for the pleasure of it.

If you had been at my house when I read the above, you would have heard a little chuckle of recognition. My current small side-trip into philately I owe to an accidental conversation about Charles Lindbergh and the 1927 Air Mail that cost a dime, and then to a mental image of my long-ago great-grandmother worrying about her sons--triggered by a box of wartime letters.
