Here are a pair of coins that served—by invitation—in countries not their own. Venezuela bought about 1,100,000 of these 1835 American cents....

...and in a time before the United States minted coins of its own, Spanish silver was an American favorite. It’s even possible, I guess, that this 1787 Spanish 2-reales spent a part of its first summer in Philadelphia, at that year’s Constitutional Convention.
