Auch bei dieser Münze habe ich nichts gefunden. Ich habe mir extra den Katalog von Krause / Mishler gekauft, aber komme damit noch nicht so klar. Vielen Dank !

Dear zauberpeter.
This is a copper coin from Libya. The obverse carries the 'toughra' of Ottoman sultan Mahmud II (1808-1839). The reverse is inscribed "Zuriba fi Tarabulus Gharb", which means: struch at Tarabulus Gharb (= Tripoli, Libya). This particular variety is not catalogued in the Krause / Mishler catalogue of 1996. But it looks like KM# 81, except the reverse inscription is framed in a square, and i can't see any date on the coin.

It seems that old Libyan copper coins are not too common. I only have one in my collection.

Best regards,
Vincent.

Hello Vincent,
thanks a lot for this excellent discription. That´s very interesting thing that my grandpa had such coins.
I saw you are from denmark. My grandpa have a lot coins from there, perhaps you are the right men for more questions ?
Best regards, Zauberpeter

Dear Zauberpeter,
you are welcome to ask questions about Danish coins. However, I specialize in Asian coins, not in Danish coins. Perhaps you should contact me through email: vincent_numismatics[klammeraffe]yahoo.dk.
