Hallo, ich denke, daß dieses Stück hebräischen Ursprungs ist - und sehr-sehr alt. Leider kann ich hier nicht weiter helfen.

Naja ... wenn man die arabische 217 unter dem Buckelwal mit Mohammeds Flucht 622 addiert und dann 3 % für die Mondjahre abzieht, käme man gerundet auf das Jahr 814 AD. Aber irgendwie wirkt das Teil jünger - vielleicht sowas wie ein arabischer Görlitzer Schekel?

You are right about 217 - only I think it is supposed to say 1217 or 1247. It looks like the 19th century kepings or doits of the Indonesia / Malaysia area. However, I have never seen such a variety. It is probably a religious amulet, and the design of the amulet is inspired by 19th century local coinage of the area. I don't know about the Malayan area, but in India religious tokens were issued both by Hindus, Moslems and Sikhs.
