It seems that for the 1559 thaler from zurich a few different versions were made. My catalogs don't go that far. Does anybody have a catalog that covers this item?
I need to know the difference between the versions and the size/weights.

I someone has pictures that will be really great.

I Need this information because I'm planning to buy this coin.

(replying in german is no problem, writing for me is difficult, reading is ok for me.)

Dear muntmichiel,
In these years, Zurch had 2 mintmasters who worked parallely and with absolute different styles. 1554-1561 Hans Gutenson with his archaic style and 1558-1563 Hans Jacob I. Stampfer. Stampfer was the rael artist and he produced beautiful coins. This is the reason, why we have 3 different typs of talers 1559.
- Taler from Gutenson
- Taler from Stampfer with revers: 9 arms in circle
- Taler from Stampfer with revers: eagle with 2 heads.
Literature: Neuer HMZ-Katalog 2-1123 h), i) and j)
Have a nice day and kind regards

Hallo muntmichiel,
I forgot to mention: You can find pictures from these talers in coinarchives (you rather need to be member) or also in www.mcsearch.info .

I've got a very little picture from the coin. It's not in my hands yet.
I think its a fake one if I compare it with these pictures:

I think its the stampfer double headed eagle, R4 class. So its very likely to be a fake one.

Yes, dear muntmichiel,
Talers from Stampfer, where the end of the tail is going far into the word CONSE / RVA are often fakes. Be carefull!
