Wied-Runkel rare kreutzer?
Verfasst: Do 13.05.10 11:34
Hi All,
I'd highly appreciate your help with the coin attached.
It seems to be a rare kreutzer from the german statelet Wied Runkel.
Unfortunately I do not have access to the newest catalogues, but in Krauze's catalogue (Standard catalogue of German coins, page 943) I see a similar kreutzer (pos. 5) with different revers. It seems that this is a coin placed below (pos. 7), defined as rare but not priced.
Diameter 15 mm.
Avers: bust, IOH. LUD. ADOL. G. Z. W. I. U. C. (Johann Ludwig Adolph, Graf zu Wied-Runkel – Isenburg und Criechingen)
Revers; coat of arms, G. WR. LAND. MUNZ. 1758
I understand the condition is not very good, but still as it is rare it seems to be quite interesting for German numismaticians.
I believe it should be described in Das Münzwesen in den Grafschaften Wied-Neuwied und Wied-Runkel of Mr. Konrad Schneider but the book is out of my reach.
Thank you in advance for all suggestions and info.
What can be its worth?
