Wäre jemand bereit, bei eBay-Kauf auszuhelfen?
Verfasst: Mo 08.03.10 20:26
Mike,
I think the easiest solution might be to ask a favor from a German collector/dealer who would be willing to pay for your coin by bank transfer as usual in Europe, receive it, then forward it to you by airmail with or without registration, and whom you could reimburse via Paypal.
If you like I can post this correspondence on the German Numismatikforum and see if anyone volunteers to do you this favor, or has other suggestions!
Best regards,
Curtis

Subject: not a numismatics technical question, but an ebay question!
Dear Curtis
I hope you don't mind my asking your help on a matter that does not pertain to your technical numismatics expertise so much, but rather is a request for your help in clearing up some confusion regarding an ebay purchase I am involved in. I am asking you because of your familiarity with overseas purchases.
I won a small Hungarian coin from a German seller. The ebay item is 170448218984, and at least from my PC, must be viewed through ebay.de. I won the coin at euro 22.50, and when I wrote the seller for shipping costs to the USA (his costs for shipping within Germany are 0.55 euro), I received the first communication.
Dear mlb2,
Hallo,

The price of 35 euro (if just for postage) seemed way high - I regularly purchase items from Germany, and pay ca. 3.50 - 4.50 euro postage, but I assumed he was referring to the total cost of coin plus postage. If that assumption is correct, that would put postage at 12.50 euro - somewhat high to be sure, but really not worth my troubling over. But his promised follow up letter arrived this morning, and now I am not sure what to make of it:
Guten Tag,

Do you think he means that postage alone is 35 euro? And secondly I am unsure how to proceed with payment. He seems to give routing numbers for bank transfers, etc? And novice as I am to this all, I am used only to paypal, and even sending a personal US check!
I do apologize in advance for troubling to take your time on helping me interpret this, but I thought you would be the best person to ask!
Thank you very much!
Mike Braunlin
