Help, please, with a portrait

Verfasst: So 26.06.11 03:32

This portrait seems somewhat odd on a Deutsche coin, but probably it’s only because I don’t know enough. Can anyone please provide information on this piece of WWI emergency money—particularly about its portrait, which to me seems very African?

Any help would be much appreciated...

Vielen Dank, ischbierra und KAM. I read about Coburg and St. Mauritius for an hour and learned--again--how little of the world I know. Thanks!

villa66,
unless you need a reference to this coin, here is one. In the catalogue of Peter Menzel "Deutschsprachige Notmunzen und Geldersatzmarken", 2nd issue 2005, it is listed as Me#4577.4 (iron, 20.5 mm diameter, minted by L. Christian Lauer, Nuremberg).
