Coin found in the province of Limburg , The Netherlands.

Who dropped a Sassanian drachm in Limburg?

Hallo Zwerg,
diese Drachmen waren Zahlungsmittel in der Zeit der slawischen Besiedelung Mitteldeutschlands (Hacksilberzeit).
Umlauf in SH, McPomm, Brandenburg, Polen.
Funde in Brandenburg - beiderseits der Oder - sind bekannt.
Wenn man die Entfernung bis zur Gegend des heutigen Iran bedenkt, die diese Münzen durch den Handel auf dem Landweg
zurückgelegt haben, ist ein Einzelfund in (NL) nicht abwegig sondern zu erwarten.
Diese Drachmen waren auch unter den Wikingern beliebt.
Globalisierung gab es schon zur Zeit von Ötzi.

We didn't expect this coin is so old and found his orgine in the Sasanian Empire.
Limburg is a famous place in Roman coin findings , maybe trademoney between Sasanians and Romans ?

The precise identification is: Khusru I, AD 531-579 ; mint GW ; Year 1 or 13.With the low resolution of the picture it is difficult to identify the date,but it is in the 10th.
This coin probably came with an Roman soldier.The had a lot of wars with the Sasanids.The captured ones an Roman Emperor.
