Hallo Rob,

mit Gewicht und Durchmesser kommt man hier leider nicht weiter, da die Merovingians Deniers und die Sceattas sich im selben Bereich von Durchmessern von 10mm - 13mm und das Gewicht von unter knapp 1g- 1,3g bewegen. Ich konnte in der Sammlung De Wit über die Sceattas kein passendes Exemplar finden. Bei den Merowingern bin ich noch nicht fündig geworden. Leider fehlt mir der Belfort. Möglich wäre auch eine friesische Imitation.

Thanks for your reaction . Until now we couldn't find the exact match.
We also considered the possibility of a Friese / Franken imitation.
Given the location of finding of this coin this may seem less obvious .
But you never know .
Better foto's now .

I know it's a bold hypothesis, but I see a human figure with letters around and cautiously suspect a Merovingian coin minted in Arles.
