This exchange over the 1901a Prussian commemorative is hilarious, but I have to admit to being a moron to explain why. In my defense, the Kaiser's headgear is...attention-getting. So I never looked much beyond it except to note in passing that Wilhelm had one homely wife.
But I think it was when I learned (here on the forum) about the 30-year moratorium on commemoratives, and was taking a look at the occasion that was noteworthy enough to restart the coining of commemoratives, that I saw the jugate busts were not a picture of the Kaiser and Kaiserin of the then here and now--as I had always thought--but instead were of the King then and the King now.
I was mortified, as you all can imagine, especially since I'd talked about this coin in terms of the "Kaiser and Kaiserin" not long before, in the Imperator/Berengaria thread.
I hustled to correct my mistake--whatever time is recorded for the alteration is only minutes after I figured it out.
Then I put it away, along with the thought that the good people on the Numismatikforum were far too well-bred to...rub my nose in it.
