Diam. : 14 mm / weight : 1,16 gr. / gold plated bronze
Type : Constantine era , GLORIA EXER( CITVS)
What was the purpose of such gold plated bronze Roman coins ?
Is this a rare find or are these more often found , for excample in Germany ?

I can not explain it. What was the point of covering a late Roman GLORIA EXERCITVS follis with gold foil? They are unlikely to have been used as "Auswurfmünzen" in the Constantinian era, because Auswurfmünzen were used as gifts from the emperor and could therefore never have been a subaerate forgery. In my opinion this is not a contemporary manipulation.

According the finder of this coin it is a gold-plated layer
This coin was found on a field with more finds of Roman orgin , 3 Roman bird fibula and some Roman denarii with little holes in it
