Slovak central bank opens tender for Slovak euro coin designs 

The Slovak National Bank (NBS) has called for proposals for the symbols to be featured on the euro coins to be used in Slovakia once the country adopts the single European currency.

The government hopes to introduce the euro in 2008 or 2009. NBS vice governor Ivan Sramko told reporters on Tuesday that the country is already beginning to take measures for adopting the currency.

Banknotes are the same for all countries in the eurozone, but member states may choose the design for the reverse side of the eight euro coins.
The NBS will announce the results of the tender at the end of 2005.
