I'm sorry I have to write in english, but my german is terrible, so please forgive me.
A few months back I bougt a small coin at auction in my coin club (Norwegian Numismatic Society). The old coin tag that followed the coin indentified it as french merovingian about AD 750, and an reference to M.h. Basel Nr. 7, p. 11, No. 268.
I posted this information on another forum, and got a confirmation that the coin was merovingian and minted during the reign of Childeric III. I have learned that the reference is to Münzhandlung Basel Auction Sale no. 7 about 1938-39.
But I still have no clue to were the coin was minted, it's denomination and rarity.
I could also use a scan of the reference in MhBasel catalogue. So if you can help me: Thank you!
Please se pictures.
Weight: 2,49 grams (silver)
Size: 19,88 x 16,91 mm.
Any help will be useful.
Thank you,
Kjetil, Norway
