Hallo,

diese Münze von Mexico(?) habe ich in meinen Unterlagen nicht gefunden. Habe ich falsch gesucht?

It is Mexican, just as you thought.

A very interesting coin, Mexico's first 1-centavo, minted during those first stumbling attempts at instituting a decimal coinage.


Mexico's only decimal coin to omit the country's name, the 1863 1-centavo was struck at two mints: Mexico City (engraver's name PAREDES in the exergue), and San Luis Potosi (engraver's name SANABRIA in the exergue).

The Mexico City coinage appears with two date-varieties, round-top 3 and flat-top 3. The round-top 3 variety appears with either plain or reeded edges, but the flat-top 3 comes only reeded. (on the Mexico City pieces anyway).

(The edge reeding on the SLP coins is said to be coarse.)

The 1863 1-centavo coins were struck in 8.0 grams of pure copper, vary in diameter from just under 26 mm to 27.5 mm.

Die Schrift auf der Rs. - LIEBERTAO Y REFORMA hast du leider für mich nicht "entschlüsselt".
Das M° dürfte auf die Münzstätte Mexiko hindeuten.
Den Namen des Stempelschneiders - Rs. unten - kann ich beim besten Willen nicht lesen.
