Here in this forum everyone is aware of history - also about the periode around WWII. In Germany it is forbidden to show a swastika taken out of proper scientific, historic and/or educational context. The very most people here (including me) connect the swastika with dictatorship and barbarism (although the swastika is older than the third Reich).

Using the swastikain Germany is a crime ( exception it has a scientific, historic and/or educational background). Detention up to 3 years.

Yes, I know to show the Swastika in Germany is VERY Illegal.

Was just trying to apologise IF I appeared to be saying the Swastika was 'cool' (which I want to assure ppl here I wasnt!)... I really hope people DIDNT take my statement that way... im not quite sure if they did, but 'cool' generated a few postings, so i thought best to clarify myself as much as possible!

Im not here to offend ppl. Im here because this forum seems to be one of the best Coin forums in Germany and the ppl who have helped me with my questions so far, have been absolutely awesome...

On the other hand, I am a bit nervous. There is a big language barrier at times, and Im all too aware that its very easy to confuse the true meaning of words when youre translating them back and forth into different languages!

To collect the coins and being interested in history and how things were when europe was covered by the war is legitimate, of course!

The thing I mean with "they find it cool" is that some US-Americans (not only but mostly I hear it about them) are really fanatical relating to everything what's decorated with a swastika.

Hope you now you unstand a little bit more what I mean and if you thought so: I didn't think that it's "cool" for YOU.

soggi: you are correct about some Americans... they are quite fanatical about collecting ANYTHING Swastika related. I dont quite understand it... I dont know if they think theyre Nazi's or if they just think its 'impressive' or whatever. And a lot of them know NOTHING about 1. the History of the Third Reich and WW2 and 2. the coins they collect...
