Spaß mit französische Kupfer

Für ein Quartal-Dollar aus einem Junkbox, 25 Cents von Spaß.

Ich freue mich, diese Münze wegen der seiner Besoldungsgruppe zu finden–so viele französische Kupfer dieser Vintage werden fast reibungslose getragen–so dass ich es aus dem Feld in Eile gezogen.

Aber dann ich bekam es zu hause und nahm einen längeren Blick auf es...Überraschung!

For a quarter-dollar from a junkbox, 25 cents of fun.

I was glad to find this coin because of its grade—so many French coppers of this vintage are worn almost smooth—so I pulled it out of the box in a hurry.

But then I got it home and took a longer look at it...surprise!

The 1852 E (Essai) 10 Centimes Pattern with the reverse Republique Francaise is a rare bird indeed (Gadoury 246, Mintage unknown). A lucky draw - congratulations!

Ich vor kurzem haben (etwas) Blick worden, auf das Zusammenspiel zwischen Frankreich und den mexikanischen Münzen und nahm dieses Foto. Die 1852E 10-Centime hat ein Adler, die sehr suggestiv von der mexikanischen 1-Centavo in 1869 eingeführt wurde, ist das so mehr, als der Adler der Verkehr-Version von Napoleon III Kupfer.

Andere streunende Bemerkungen und Fragen:

1) Die 1852E 10-Centime fasziniert mich, da es im Moment darstellt–nach fast 4 Jahrzehnte –dass Frankreich war zu große Kupfer Münzprägung fortsetzen.
2) Gewesen zirkuliert französischen Kupfer des frühen- bis Mitte-19 Jahrhunderts muss eine unglaubliche Mischmasch, hauptsächlich bestehend aus revolutionären-Ära Münzen?
3) Hat was ist das Gerät der französischen Adler in seiner Klauen?

Recently I’ve been looking (a little) at the interplay between French and Mexican coins and took this photo. The 1852E 10-centime has an eagle that is very suggestive of the Mexican 1-centavo which was introduced in 1869, more so than the eagle of the circulation version of Napoleon III’s coppers.

Other stray observations and questions:

1) The 1852E 10-centime fascinates me because it represents the moment—after almost 4 decades—that France was about to resume coining big coppers.
2) Circulating French copper of the early- to mid-19th century must have been an incredible hodge-podge, consisting mostly of Revolutionary-era coins?
3) What is the device the French eagle has in its claws?

Answering this question would take quite a time, so I simply add a copy of the small change circulating in France in 1848 and their exchange rates in Centimes. All these coins were withdrawn in 1856.

3) What is the device the French eagle has in its claws?

It's not a hot-dog (though it sometimes looks like that) but Jupiters thunderbolt, the favourate tool Napoleon I. carried along on his trips throughout Europe. The medal below shows the British lion depriving the French eagle from this device. In addition the eagle sitting on the thunderbolt is the heraldic device of the Bonaparte dynasty.

Und noch einmal Dank, Klaupo. Vor allem für das Diagramm von Kupfer Münzen in Umlauf.

Das Gerät in der französischen Adler Klauen–Jupiter's Thunderbolt–war verwirrend mir aufgrund der seine (oberflächliche) Ähnlichkeit zu einigen der Pfeile/Lorbeer Blätter Ikonographie der amerikanischen Münzen, wie auf dieses paar Quartale.

The device in the French eagle’s claws—Jupiter’s Thunderbolt—was confusing me because of its (superficial) similarity to some of the arrows/laurel leaves iconography of American coins , as on this pair of quarters.
