5 mark german state coins thickness

Hi to all,

I'm looking for experienced german state coins collectors from Germany and i hope i could find them here.
I'm collecting 5 mark german state coins. Recently i've looked through my collections and noticed that they have different thickness, sachsen coins are more ticker than prussian for example. I've spent a lot of time in Internet trying to find etalon thickens of such coins, but I did not succeed.
Do you probably know etalon thickness and allowed deviation in tickness and weight of 5 mark german state coins? or could you probably provide some information sources with this data?

I can not recall having read any figures concerning the thickness of imperial 5 - marks, but certainly they may differ a bit ,also depending on minimal differences in the height of the relief of the different designs.
German coindealer and collector Alexander Kummer in 1898 published an article on differences in the thickness of prussian and bavarian 20- marks, writing that prussian coins would pile up higher than bavarian. I believe that might go for the other denominations aswell.

Mynter, thanks for quick response.
I totally agree with your point of view. Looks like i found an exact tickness of such coin is 2.8 mm.
But it would be nice to find exact deviations as well, at least in percentage.
3.0 or 2.6 are acceptable deviations, what do yo think?

Is the weight correct? In other words - do "thick" and "thin" coins weigh alike?

The weight of prussian coin from the second photo("thin") is 27.87, volume is 2.73 (measured with hydrostatic weighing).
The weight of sachcsen coin from the second photo("thick") is 27,93, volume is 2.75 (measured with hydrostatic weighing).
Coins are in uncirculated condition(vz-stgl). Is it allowed weight deviation from the standard of 27.77?

According to the imperial monetary act of 1873,the weight-tolerance of a imperial silver 5 - mark was between 27,5 g and 28,05 g with 27,778 being the correct weight. The weight of the silverblanks was controlled by the pound not by the piece, as silvercoins where mere token coins. Thus the weight of silvercoins might spread wider than what is the case with goldcoins where the blanks where controlled by the piece, because gold was the measurement of value..
While the diamter of the silvercoins is given (38 mm for the 5- mark ), no requirements concerning the thicknes are mentioned.

And as i understand if diameter, weight and metal density are fine then thickness should be fine as well, correct?
