ROYAL CANADIAN MINT PROMOTES NEW LINE OF 99.999% PURE GOLD BULLION COINS BY UNVEILING WORLD’S PUREST, LARGEST AND HIGHEST DENOMINATION GOLD COIN

Ottawa, Ontario – May 3, 2007 – The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) today proudly introduced two exciting new products to the international gold bullion market: the world’s first 100-kg, 99999 pure gold bullion coin with a $1 million face value and a 99999 pure one-ounce Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin. These coins, representing the highest achievement in gold purity in the bullion market, were unveiled at the RCM’s Ottawa facility, where the coins were made.

The 100-kg, 99999 pure gold bullion coin with a $1 million face value was originally conceived as a unique showpiece to promote the RCM’s new line of 99999 pure one-ounce Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins. After several interested buyers came forward, the RCM decided to make a very limited quantity available for sale.

The 99999 pure one-ounce Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin joins the existing family of Gold Maple Leaf products which are internationally renowned for their purity and quality. It is being released for general sale to the public after a successful trial production of a 99999 pure gold bullion coin and positive marketplace reaction. Although this coin presents a new standard in investment products, there are currently no plans to replace the 9999 pure Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins.

The Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin was first launched in September 1979, as a one ounce investment coin, the first coin to be struck of pure gold. The Gold Maple Leaf coin was 999 pure until 1982, when its purity was raised to 9999, setting a new benchmark for gold bullion coins. The RCM has maintained its tradition of leadership in the gold bullion industry by raising the bar once more, to 99999.

Dagegen wirkt der österreichische "Big Phil" doch recht mickrig.

Österreich und Kanada, das grad dieses beiden Länder Kanaldeckel heraus geben passt irgendwie. Beide Länder überschwemmen ja gern den Markt ^^

Aber irgendwie sind die Kanadier moderner, die haben wenigstens schon das metrische System in der Münzprägung eingeführt und rechnen nicht mehr nach Unzen

nach derzeitigem Goldkurs (1 Unze kostet im Ankauf 502 €, im Verkauf 506 €), ca. 1,6 Mio. € oder 2,4 Mio. Kanadische Dollar.

@Marc naja, ob Österreich den Markt überschwemmt glaube ich mal weniger. Da wäre Australien sicher eher angebracht wenn mich meine Bescheidene Ausgabekenntnisse nicht trügen. Russland wäre auch nicht schlecht.

Gut, kommt natürlich immer auf den Blickwinkel an. In der Moderne, die ja eh nicht mein Hauptsammelgebiet ist, habe ich einen etwas Euro-N.-Amerikanisch zentrischen Blick mit Schwerpunkt auf Nichtanlagemünzen (Ups ist das jetzt kompliziert geschrieben ).
Hierbei handelt es sich aber eher um Werbung für Anlagemünzen, und bei Anlagemünzen sind natürlich Australien, China und Russland traditionell sehr stark. Aber deren Ausgabepolitik ärgert mich weniger, da deren Kursmünzen mich weniger interessieren.

Selbst was Gedenkmünzen angeht ist Österreich bei weitem nicht Führend. Dort würde ich eher Frankreich nennen ( jetzt im Europäischen Raum gesehen). Österreich gibt 2007 um die 10 Münzen+ 2 KMS aus. Was Frankreich ausgibt will ich gar nicht erst zählen.

Aber Frankreich und Deutschland können noch einen Großteil ihrer Münzen im eigenen Land absetzen. Das konnte Österreich schon seit den 70gern nicht mehr

Würde man Frankreich in Stücke mit etwa der Bevölkerung von Österreich zerteilen, käme einen die französische Münzausgabe gering vor. Mir als nicht Österreicher und nicht Franzosen fallen mehr die Stücke auf, welche auf den europäischen Markt schwämmen, weil es der einheimische des Herstellers nicht mehr aufnehmen kann.

Aber ich bin auch kein Freund der französischen Gedenkmünzen. Jedoch muss man den Franzosen zugestehen, das sie eine sehr alte und ausgeprägte Gedenkmünzen und Medaillentradition haben, und deshalb auch den Markt dafür. Wann hast du das letzte mal in Deutschland eine Werbung für französische Gedenkmünzen gesehen, die brauchen nicht in ganz Europa werben, die bekommen ihre Münzen im eigenen Land los. Hingegen Österreich wirbt ständig im Ausland für seine Münzen.

Naja, die Anzahl der ausgaben an der Bevölkerung festzumachen ist auch etwas töricht. DA müsste Deutschland ja richtig wenige haben.
Aber für solche Münzen darf man auch gerne werben.

Nun ja, mag sein, die Franzosen haben es aber auch schon fertiggebracht, eine Serie von Münzen mit einer in Europa kaum bekannten Comicfigur herauszugeben und die gesammte Auflage geschlossen an einen japanischen Großhändler zu verscherbeln. Zwar "offizielle Zahlungsmittel", aber ich denke, das war eine reine Auftragsprägung für den Käufer.
Insofern stufe ich Frankreich in numismatischer Hinsicht höchstens noch minimal seriöser ein als Länder wie Liberia oder die Marshalinseln.

Stimmt, diese Serien hatte ich völlig verdrängt, da ich sie auch nur noch als Pseudomünzen ansehe. Gebe mich geschlagen die französische Prägepolitik ist nicht besser als die von Österreich, sondern hat nur andere Auswüchse.
