Regrettably, this thread devolved to personal insult. And the unfortunate response to delete posts. I will delete the thread in two days. There were some lessons to be learned from it but without all the posts, it is confusing.
Lessons Learned:
We should recognize the limitations of working only with photos. It may be easy to condemn a coin a coin struck with modern dies or that is an obvious cast, but it is usually not possible to either authenticate or condemn a well made cast fake from photos.
We should be very cautious before condemning high value coins coming from reputable sellers. Fakes do slip by even the very best. We have discussed them here many times. I only said be cautious. I did not say don't discuss them.
It is often a good idea to express your opinions with some degree of reservation. First, absolute certainty makes it uncomfortable for others to disagree, which is not ideal for our discussions. Also, it puts you into a position where people who disagree with you are more likely to expect you to defend your position. If you merely state an opinion, people will be less likely to expect you to rebut every new contrary bit of information. That said, if you are absolutely certain, say so. Personally, I am rarely 100% certain about anything.
Mit freundlichem Gruß
